My role as Student Parent Support Coordinator is to ensure that you are aware of and able to access all of the supports available, both within MIC and externally.
I offer individual support by appointment to the following students at MIC:
- Student Parents (with children of school-going age and younger)
- Expectant Student Parents
- Students experiencing an unexpected or crisis pregnancy
I will listen and help you to explore and identify the supports you may need and the next step you can take.
This may involve providing you with information, guidance, signposting, and in some cases linking you with other supports.
When is support available:
Monday, Tuesday (9 am – 5 pm), Wednesday morning (9 am-1 pm)

In Conversation with Shirley Kearney (Access Office)
Róisín met with Shirley (Access/Disability Officer (Acting)) from the Access & Disability Office to discuss how students can contact them and the different services they provide.

While working remotely, meetings will be scheduled by the office via MS TEAMS. Where a face one to one meeting is required, it will be arranged with Health & Safety procedures in place.
Overview of Service/Supports
- Designated Support Service: for HEAR and DARE students. Provision of supports, Information, Advice, and advocacy assistance.
- Needs Assessments: Needs Assessments for Students with Disabilities to identify the reasonable accommodations required to support your academic program. Students with disabilities/ongoing medical conditions regardless of college entry route are encouraged to contact the office
- Financial assistance: Information on the ESF Student Assistance Fund and other sources of financial assistance to assist students struggling financially.

In Conversation With Fr Michael Wall (MIC Chaplaincy)
Róisín met with fr Michael Wall to discuss his role as Chaplain, the Chaplaincy Service, and how students can access it.
The chaplaincy team is here to help any member of the college community to grow and develop to their full potential and enjoy their years in college.
- Provides religious services and opportunities for faith information
- Provide services for non-Catholic Students (everyone is welcome).
- Supports students during times of bereavement, illness, and during occasions of personal or family upheaval
- Fosters social justice and provides opportunities for Volunteer work.
This semester, 2 students will be completing their Co-Op year in the Chaplaincy and are working alongside Fr. Michael Wall.

The chaplaincy team is here to help any member of the college community to grow and develop to their full potential and enjoy their years in college. The chaplaincy service is here to serve people of all faiths and none.
This year Ciara Maxwell and David Egan will be completing their Co-Op placement in the Chaplaincy Service during the autumn semester and Kate Hogan will be completing her Co-Op placement in the Chaplaincy Service during the spring semester. These are 3rd-year B.A. students who will be working alongside Fr. Michael Wall as part of the chaplaincy team.
Due to the continuing COVID-19 situation, access to the chaplaincy office/hospitality room may be limited, however Ciara, David, and Kate will be operating zoom drop-in sessions, taking phone calls, answering e-mails, and maintaining a presence of social media. Do link up with them
