As you start into life at MIC or return to life at MIC, there can be some things that you are not 100% certain about, these can range from rooms to services, etc. so we have compiled some FAQs that will hopefully cover everything you need to get settled in.

If your question isn't answered, drop us a DM or an email, give us a call, or pop down to the Info Desk/Info Hub/Info Station and we'll be more than happy to help you!

Where do I find my timetable?

Timetables are available on the MIC website, through the Student Information section.

Where can I park my car?

MIC (Limerick) has limited free parking on campus, as well as paid parking. If these are full, the college provides parking for students at Limerick Greyhound Stadium, with a bus running to and from every 15 minutes. For street parking, Limerick e-parking is an app for parking tickets. More information on Parking can be found here.

MIC (Thurles) also has limited free parking on campus. If you need to park off-campus, download or visit Tipperary E-Parking. This can allow you to pay for parking from your phone and covers on-street parking and some nearby car parks.

Please note that all students parking on-campus (this includes the Park & Ride in Limerick) must display a MISU Parking Sticker. You only need one for the Academic Year. Applications open again in Semester Two if you missed the deadline in Semester One. The sticker identifies you as a student parker to Security does not guarantee you a parking space and does not cover the cost of any on-campus parking fees.

Click here for more info on the different car parks.

Please note that parking on-campus/off-campus is at owner's risk. Please do not leave any valuables in your car.

When is it appropriate to email my lecturer?

If you have questions about specific coursework, assignments, lectures, tutorials, etc., contact your lecturer. Always consider your tone when emailing lecturers – keep it formal, appropriate and brief.

I’m not sure where my lecture is. How do I know where to go?

The following page has information on getting around both MIC campuses.

How do I get around Limerick City?

The 304 bus goes from Raheen, through town, towards UL and vice versa, every 15 minutes. There are stops all the way along O’Connell Street and Avenue. If you do not have a Leap Card, it costs 1.90 and they do not accept cards. If you are aged between 19-23, you can get a Young Adult Leap Card and if you are over 24 years you can get a Student Leap Card.  There is also a taxi rank on William Street and at night, taxis can usually be found on Denmark Street, near the clubs and bars. FREENOW is a free app for booking taxis.

You can also utilise the TFI Bike Share option as a convenient way to get around the city, there is a bike hub up by the John Henry Newman Building (across the road from the Foundation Building) and more info on how you can use this is here.

Where can I get groceries?

In Limerick, there are 2 Lidls within walking distance of the college; one on Dock Road and one close to Punch’s Cross. There is also a Tesco in the Crescent Shopping Centre, just down the road from the college.

In Thurles, there is a Tesco on Main Street which is located only 5 minutes of a walk from the college. There is also a Dunnes in the nearby Thurles Shopping Centre and a Lidl close by.

I have questions regarding rented accommodation, who do I contact?

Threshold is an organisation that can advise students on their rights as renters. More information is available on their website.  MIC has an Accommodation Office who can provide support to you with any queries you have in regards to Accommodation.
