Why is COVID-19 spreading in the community and what can I do to prevent it?
The Department of Public Health Mid-West's poster (above) offers a reminder of how transmissable the current strain of Covid-19 is in Ireland.
If you are mixing with other households, ONE CASE can quickly turn into large household/workplace and community outbreaks.
This is an incredibly tough time for everyone, but we all must play our part.

It is really important to understand that, if you have been a close contact of someone who has Covid-19 (close contact is spending more than 15 minutes within 2 metres with an infected person or living in the same house or accommodation with an infected person), you must self-isolate at home even if you feel well and get tested for Covid-19. For College GP services, for Limerick students please telephone the Ashdown Medical Centre at +353 61 301200 and for Thurles students, a GP Service is available with Dr Liam Collins at The Surgery, Fianna Road, Thurles by contacting +353 504 21155. There is a €10 charge for the college GP appointments for MIC students.
Even if you don’t have any symptoms, self-isolation and following the national and medical advice you receive is essential because if you don’t, you risk spreading the virus to your friends, family and the wider community.
The HSE website provides information on Covid-19 symptoms, close contacts, advice for self-isolating and restricting your movements (staying at home).
