The Library Library

9am -10pm (Monday – Friday) and 2pm -6pm (Saturday)

Opening hours are reduced during out of semester time but opening times are extended on Saturdays leading
up to exams.

Valid Student I.D. cards are needed to scan in and out of the library.

What’s in it?

  • Books you need to reference for assignments
  • General interest books
  • Children’s books (useful for planning lessons)
  • TP section (resources for all subject areas)
  • Audio Visual (AV) Materials section where you can take out CDs, DVDs, TV series etc.

Desks

Main issue desk: on the ground floor. Everything, except the AV items, can be issued and returned at this desk with a valid Student I.D. card. There are also self-service stations where students can borrow and return books with their Student I.D. card.

AV Library desk: on the first floor. AV items can only be taken out and returned here.

Study desks: The most joyful of desks! Almost every desk has a socket so your smartphone or laptop will never run out of battery. You can also access Student Wi-Fi.

30 minute library break system: If you leave your seat you must fill out a ticket stating what time you left.  This ticket lets you keep your seat for 30 minutes.  If you are gone for more than 30 minutes somebody else can move your stuff and use the desk!  Seats which are unoccupied and don't have a library break ticket can be used by another student straight away.

Library Fines

Books can only be taken out for a certain length of time. You’ll be landed with a fine if you take out books for longer than what it says on the labels at the side of the book.

General Lending (2 week loans): 20c per day late

Three Day Loans: €1 per day late

One Day Loans: €1 per day late

4 Hour Loans: €1 per hour late

Fines can mount quickly so when you realise you have exceeded the deadline, leg it to the library immediately and don’t look back!

You can’t graduate if you have an unpaid library fine.

An Seomra Caidrimh

Osclaíodh An Seomra Caidrimh ag tús Mheán Fómhair sa bhliain 2011. Is áis é do phobal uile an Choláiste, na mic léinn agus an fhoireann ar aon. Tá An Seomra Caidrimh in úsáid mar ionad cruinnithe, mar ionad rince, mar ionad seolta leabhar agus mar sheomra ranga agus ar ndoigh mar ionad spóirt agus spraoi!!

Tá An Seomra Caidrimh lonnaithe san fhoirgneamh na leabharlainne – L112. Spás neamhfhoirmiúil atá ann – Bíonn imeachtaí ar súil ar fud an seimeaster chun béim a chur ar an Ghaeilge; seisiún ceoil, laethanta scannán, ciorcal comhrá agus go leor rudaí eile. Tar isteach chun do chuid Ghaeilge a fheabhsú agus a chleachtadh. Bígí Linn!

An Seomra Caidrimh is located in the library building-L112. An Seomra Caidrimh is open to both students and staff who have an interest in Gaeilge, who want to improve their Gaeilge or for those who just have cúpla focal and want to practise! There are many resources available for students: newspapers, dictionaries and a range of books. There are always events going on in An Seomra Caidrimh; music sessions with the Traditional Music Society, Movie days, conversational circles just to mention a few.
